Tortoise Beetle
Tortoise Beetle - Cassida vibex
Description
One of several similar beetles with flat, rounded bodies. It is pale golden green with a darker central band on its back.
Habitat
Amongst vegetation on roadsides and field margins etc. It is often found on Thistles and Yarrow in summer.
When to see it
April to September.
UK Status
Found mainly south of a line from the Severn to the Wash.
VC55 Status
Infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 13 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
