The galls caused by the gall midge Dasineura tiliae occur on the leaves of some species of Lime and take the form of a wide upward roll on the edge of mature leaves.  The affected leaves are often reddish or purplish.

Dasineura thomasiana causes leaves to crinkle and distort, with thickened veins; larvae inside are white at first.

It seems to be widespread in Britain but is not well recorded.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
