Length 2 to 4.5 mm. A blackish coloured Rove Beetle with two orangey yellow spots - one on each wing case.

Various habitats, but particularly associated with Cabbage plants it has also been found in moss and flood refuse.

Most records are between January and August.

This rove beetle is parasitic on the Cabbage root maggot and has been considered for introduction to Canada for biological control of this pest.

Fairly frequent throughout England and Wales

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 42 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
