There are a number of similar species and detailed examination is necessary for a safe id.

Unless identified by a recognised expert, photographic evidence is required and the specimen should be examined with a microscope. In the comments box, state the key or ID method used. Peak time for adults is from mid May to late September.

The larvae mine the leaves of Oak species.  The mining usually occurs between late April and June.

Widespread in England and Wales.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
