Medium to large sized tree. Leaves pinnate, with dark green lanceolate leaflets turning red-purple in autumn.

Often planted on roadside verges, and in parks and gardens.

It is in flower from Apr to May.
Life History
Deciduous tree.
UK Status
Little recorded in Britain.
VC55 Status
Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. It was not recorded in the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire.
