The galls caused by the gall mite Phytoptus erinotes occur on the leaves of some species of Lime and take the form of patches of creamy-white hairs on the undersides of leaves and distinct upward bulges to 5 mm across on the upperside. 

Eriosoma exilis f. leiosoma also causes erinea on Lime, with a less distinct bulge above

Status in Britain is difficult to determine due to lack of records.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.

The taxonomy of mite galls on Lime is unclear.  This species is no longer listed in the 2023 edition of British Plant Galls (Redfern & Shirley).  Bladminneerders lists Phytoptus erinotes as a form of Phytoptus tetratrichus - see webpage
