Description
Lymexylon navale is an extremely slim beetle and is usually between 6 and 12 mm. The elytra are slightly shorter than the abdomen.
Identification difficulty
Habitat
Associated with woodland or other well wooded areas where the larvae develop within a range of trees.
Life History
The larvae develop in hardwood.
UK Status
An uncommon beetle in Britain it is which is currently designated as RDB2 (vulnerable).
VC55 Status
Rare or under recorded in Leicestershire and Rutland. The Cropston record of 3rd July 2017 is the first record of this species in VC55.
