Wingspan 11 mm. A very tiny drab brown moth, with a slightly 'tent like' posture.

This species occupies habitats where its food plant, Gorse, occurs.

Adults are on the wing in July and early August when they can be disturbed from large old Gorse bushes in the early evening.

Overwinters as a small larva in a slight spinning on Gorse and is full fed by the start of June, or earlier, when it pupates.

Widespread in Britain as far north as Yorkshire. In the Butterfly Conservation’s Microlepidoptera Report 2011 this species was classified as common.

Classified as uncommon in VC55 but this species is increasing in our area and the status may need to be reviewed. L&R Moth Group status = D (rare or rarely recorded)
