A smallish bolete associated wth Larch.  The cap is sticky and variable in colour from pale yellow to orange-yellow.  Young specimens have a large floppy ring, covering the yellow pores.  The stipe is the same colour as the cap and has a ring zone.  

The Weeping Bolete Suillus granulatus has often been recorded in VC55; it is yellow to reddish brown but has no stem ring.  Suillus bovinus has occasionally been recorded; it is pale brown and has no stem ring. Both are associated with Pine.

June to October in Britain.

Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
